There are still more than 3 months until the Lunar New Year 2025, but farmers in the Duong Son flower garden in Hoa Chau Commune, Hoa Vang District, and other flower growing areas in Da Nang have begun to plant seeds to start the Tet flower crop.

In order for flowers to bloom in time for the 2025 Tet crop, flower growers in the Duong Son Village have started to turn on electric lights all night to ensure the growth of flowers. The installed light bulb system has a capacity of 15-20W and is mounted at a density of 1.5-2m apart. The lights here will be turned on automatically from around 8:00 pm to 3:00 am the next day and then automatically turn off.
According to a report from the People's Committee of Hoa Chau Commune, the Duong Son flower garden now has a total area of about 45,926 m2, with 24 households growing all kinds of flowers such as chrysanthemums, orchids, Leucophyllum Frutescens, roses and marigolds. This place is known as the main supplier of Tet flowers in the city.
The Duong Son Flower Cooperative is an agricultural economic model that applies mechanisation in the value chain linkage stages associated with ensuring food safety. In order to develop the Duong Son flower garden into a new destination for tourists to visit and experience, the local authorities have worked with the Duong Son Flower Cooperative to convert to a flower growing model applying advanced technology instead of traditional methods, as well as mobilise people to use biological drugs instead of chemical drugs to ensure a safe and healthy environment in production.
Currently, the Duong Son Flower Cooperative has 24 members producing on an area of 4.5 hectares. Of which, 2.5 ha is earmarked for growing chrysanthemum. The hanging flower growing area of Mr. Tran Dung Quoc is 3,000 m2 and that of Mr. Vo Yen Viet 4,250 m2. The orchid growing area of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung is 2,200 m2. The decorative flower growing area of Mr. Vo Thinh is 977 m2 and the rose and lotus growing area of Mr. Ho Van Lac is 1,572 m2. The flower growing area of Mr. Huynh Tan Anh is 1,751 m2, and Doan Trinh and Ly Dang 3,388 m2.
The Cooperative is a specialised flower production area using high technology with main types of flowers such as chrysanthemum, sunflower, mokara orchid, hanging primrose, rose, bougainvillea and lotus.
Currently, the Cooperative is operating effectively, and each of its members earns VND 100 million in profit per year. Notably, there are some outstanding models such as mokara orchid model of Mr. Vo Yen Viet, hanging flower model of Mr. Tran Dung Quoc, and model of growing paper flowers and water lilies of Mr. Ho Van Lac. These models regularly supply flowers to the market with annual profit of about VND150 - 200 million.

Currently, gardeners are pruning flower buds. According to local residents, to ensure the growth rate of the plants, in addition to turning on the lights throughout the night, they need to prune off flower buds that show signs of yellowing and wilting. |
