Under the railway network planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, Da Nang will relocate its railway station out of the city centre to the west of the current station, and at the same time renovate the existing railway line parallel to the east of the expressway in the same corridor as the high-speed railway. The relocation project will help the city have more land for urban reconstruction and socio-economic development.

The project to relocate the Da Nang Railway Station and a number of related works out of the centre is one of the city’s key infrastructure development projects.
According to the municipal Department of Transport, while waiting for the approval from the central Government to deploy investment in the railway system according to the plan, the Da Nang People's Committee has proactively researched and prepared the relocation plan.
The project will be divided into 2 phases. The first phase will focus on relocating the existing Da Nang railway station to a new location, serving the urban redevelopment of the inner city area, with the total investment of about VND 2,293 billion from the state budget.
In phase 2, the railway lines in city will be relocated according to the plan. Additionally, a new passenger station will be built in Hoa Son Commune, Hoa Vang District. The total implementation of the phase is estimated at VND 3,812 billion from the state budget.

Located on Hai Phong Street, the Da Nang Railway Station is the main on the North-South railway line. It is 791km north of the Ha Noi Railway Station and 935km south of the Saigon Railway Station. |

According to the relocation plan, in phase 1, the passenger station will be removed to Trung Nghia Lake area in Hoa Minh Ward, Lien Chieu District. The freight station will be relocated to Kim Lien Station in Hoa Hiep Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District. |

The new passenger station is located more than 4km from the current Da Nang station, adjacent to Hoang Thi Loan, Nam Tran and Nguyen Tuong Pho streets; and nearly 1km from the Hue T-junction and Da Nang Coach Station. |

A new station square will be built combined with the city's West Lake park on an area of about 14,000 square meters, connecting traffic with neighbouring streets. |

The soon-to-be-relocated station is still located on the existing North-South railway line. The current railway line in the city is kept intact. |

The dead-end railway branch from Thanh Khe roundabout through Thanh Khe station to Da Nang station will be converted into an urban railway. |

The freight station, auxiliary works and railway agencies will be relocated to Kim Lien Station in Hoa Hiep Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District. |

The Kim Lien Station will be upgraded and renovated into a cargo station with a loading and unloading capacity of about 500,000 tonnes/year, connecting to Lien Chieu Port. |

In phase 2, according to the project to adjust the master plan of Da Nang to 2030, with a vision to 2045, approved by the Prime Minister, the city will relocate the station and railway lines, and build a new passenger station in Hoa Son Commune, Hoa Vang District in service of the national railway and high-speed railway on the North-South axis. |
