As a historical address of Da Nang with nearly 130 years of age, the existing 42 Bach Dang facility has been upgraded into the new Museum of Da Nang. After a period of renovation and upgrading, the museum has been put into trial operation with a modern scale.

For nearly 130 years, the old French architectural building at 42 Bach Dang Street used to be the Da Nang City Hall during the period of fighting for power, later the headquarters of the People's Committee of Quang Nam - Da Nang Province, and the headquarters of the People's Committee of Da Nang since its recognition as a centrally-governed city in 1997. Since 2014, this place has been the headquarters of the People's Council of Da Nang.
On May 11, 2020, the municipal People's Committee approved a project on upgrading the existing 42 Bach Dang facility into the new Museum of Da Nang at a total investment of nearly VND 505 billion from the city budget.
Accordingly, the Museum of Da Nang was moved out of the campus of the Dien Hai Citadel National Special Relic in order to returning the space to serve the project to renovate, restore and embellish the Dien Hai Citadel at Phase 2.
After 4 years of construction, the new Museum of Da Nang project at 42 Bach Dang has been basically completed. It is currently undergoing a trial operation before the inauguration slated to take place in March to mark the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Da Nang (March 29, 1975 - March 29, 2025).

During the renovation, the facade architecture and tiled roofs of the old buildings were kept intact; the security door system was upgraded; the fence was removed to create an open space for people and visitors to the museum. The building was repainted in its original color. |

The museum has a basement and three upper floors with synchronous technical infrastructure and green landscape. |

The main hall on the first floor and the entrance on Tran Phu Street is the reception and guide point for visitors. |

There are 13 information lookup and automatic projection screens, a ticket counter, tour route maps, a souvenir shop, a coffee shop serving tourists and locals, and a 100-seat conference room. |

The systems of elevators, escalators, electricity, indoor water supply, drainage, automatic fire alarm and fire fighting, ventilation, communication, and emergency exits are designed to meet museum standards. |

The first place for visitors to experience is a giant wall with images of Da Nang from the past to the present, along with documents affirming the country's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos. |

The 2nd floor connects with the 3rd floor to form a tour route, taking visitors to thematic exhibition spaces, discovery spaces, and libraries. |

In the current building, the exhibition space is in the style of a traditional museum, mainly displaying artifacts combined with a small part using interactive multimedia. |

In the new place, the exhibition content is showcased by high-tech, multimedia and highly interactive forms combined with the display of artifacts. |

Compared to before, the artifacts at the new Museum of Da Nang are arranged in a more modern, scientific and intuitive space. |

The garden landscape space on the first floor and the central courtyard space of the museum are connected, creating a gentle and impressive experience for visitors. |

The museum's basement is equipped with high-capacity pumps, anti-flood sensors, and an automatic sprinkler fire extinguishing system. This is a parking lot and a turning point for cars under 45 seats, avoiding congestion on the two one-way streets of Bach Dang and Tran Phu. |

The Museum of Da Nang at 42 Bach Dang connects with the Central Square around Dien Hai Citadel, the General Science Library and the landscape of the west bank of the Han River, creating a unique cultural architectural complex of a historical - cultural square. |
