100 rowers participate in Lien Chieu District Open Traditional Boat Race 2025

The Lien Chieu District Open Traditional Boat Race took place on Cu De River on Thursday morning (the 9th day of the first lunar month), attracting thousands of people to watch and cheer.

The traditional boat race on Cu De River right after Tet is an annual tournament and a unique cultural feature of people in Lien Chieu District. |

This year's tournament has 8 teams competing in two categories for men and women. |
 |
The female boat racing teams include Ngu Hanh Son District, Cam Le District, Hoa Hiep Nam Ward (Lien Chieu District), and Duy Thu Commune (Duy Xuyen District, Quang Nam Province), whilst the male teams are Hoa Hiep Bac Ward and Hoa Hiep Nam Ward (Lien Chieu District), and Hoa Lien Commune and Hoa Bac Commune (Hoa Vang District). According to tournament rules, female teams were required to complete 2 laps, equivalent to 2 km, and male teams competed 3 laps, equivalent to 3 km. |

With experience on the water, the rowers of the racing teams coordinate well and rhythmically on the racing stages, bringing tense and exciting competitions. |

From early morning, the atmosphere along both banks of the Cu De River is very bustling, thousands of people are present on Nam O Bridge (Lien Chieu District) to cheer on the racing teams. |

Many people are excited because of the thrilling competitions. |

In the female category, Team Hoa Hiep Nam Ward (Lien Chieu District) take the first prize, Team Ngu Hanh Son District second prize, Team Cam Le District third prize, and Team Duy Thu Commune consolation prize. In the male category, the first prize goes to Team Hoa Hiep Nam Ward (Lien Chieu District), the second to Hoa Hiep Bac Ward (Lien Chieu District), the third to Hoa Lien Commune (Hoa Vang District), and the consolation prize to Hoa Bac Commune (Hoa Vang District) respectively. |

The Open Traditional Boat Race in Lien Chieu District is an indispensable spiritual dish for local people on the occasion of Tet. It is also is a premise for the Lien Chieu District boat racing team to maintain training, and continue to improve their ability to coordinate well and rhythmically to be ready to participate in boat races in the city. |
