Local groups and individuals given awards by Laos

On behalf of the President and the Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Secretary of the Salavan Party Committee and Provincial Governor, Mr Khamboun Duongpannha, presented medals of honour from his government to some outstanding groups and individuals in Da Nang on Thursday afternoon. 

First-class Itsala Medals were presented to the Da Nang Party Committee, the People’s Council and the People’s Committee (PC).  The former municipal Party Secretary, Mr Nguyen Ba Thanh, and the former municipal PC Chairman, Mr Tran Van Minh, were awarded Second-class Itsala Medals.  The municipal PC Chairman and Party Deputy Secretary, Mr Van Huu Chien, received a Third-class Itsala Medal.

The People's Council Vice Chairman, Mr Huynh Nghia, was awarded a Third-class Labour Medal, whilst a Second-class Labour Medal went to the Office of the Party Committee, and a Third-class Labour Medal to the Office of the PC.

In addition, 2 other groups and 11 individuals from local government departments and agencies received Friendship Medals.

On the same day, the municipal PC Chairman, Mr Van Huu Chien, and the leaders of Salavan Province discussed the implementation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Da Nang and Salavan Province in late 2012.

Under a bilateral cooperation programme for the 2013 - 2017 period, Da Nang will continue to provide assistance to Salavan Province to promote the further development of its educational, agricultural, and other sectors. 

Over the 1999 - 2012 period, Da Nang has spent about 13 billion VND in total to implement 11 projects in this province in such areas as education, health, culture and agriculture.
