More condolences over General Giap's passing

Many condolences over the death of General Vo Nguyen Giap have continued to be sent to Viet Nam and his family, describing the death as a great loss to the Vietnamese nation.

First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba’s Central Committee, President of the State Council and Council of Ministers, General Raul Castro has sent his condolences to Vietnamese Party, State and Government leaders over the death of General Vo Nguyen Giap.

The Cuban leader said the Party, Government and people of Cuba share the sorrow and the loss of Viet Nam at the passing away of the legendary fighter who struggled for freedom of Viet Nam  and who is a close friend of Cuba.

In a special communiqué on October 5, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius expressed his condolences to the General’s family and all Vietnamese people, and saluted the deceased as a great fighter and patriot of Viet Nam and an outstanding figure.

The Uruguayan Ministry of External Relations on October 6 announced President Jose Mujica’s message of condolences extended to President Truong Tan Sang over the death of the “legendary General Vo Nguyen Giap”.

In his message, President Mujica affirmed that General Giap was the one who fostered Vietnamese independence, an exceptional strategist and inspirer of freedom worldwide who said the human factor is the key to victory.

The Uruguayan leader also confirmed that the sorrow he felt when learning of the death of the General will not lessen his belief in the General’s everlasting career, one of his biggest patrimonies to mankind.

In his message on October 6 to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the Party Central Committee, Chea Sim, President of the Cambodia’s People Party and President of the Senate, extended the Cambodian Party and people’s deep condolences to the Party and people of Viet Nam  and General Giap’s family.

He praised the contributions of General Vo Nguyen Giap, a leader of the Communist Party of Viet Nam , in the fight against colonialism and imperialism, for national independence and Viet Nam ’s building process advancing to socialism.
