Deputy Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh held a reception for Evan Medeiros, an emissary of the US President, in Ha Noi on July 14.

The host said following the establishment of the comprehensive partnership in 2013, the two countries’ defence cooperation has seen fresh developments in personnel training, the sharing of experience in humanitarian aid, disaster response, and navigation security and safety.

Medeiros, who is Special Assistant to US President Barrack Obama, agreed that both sides need to increase the exchange of information and high-ranking military delegations and effectively carry out the signed memorandum of understanding on bilateral defence.

At the meeting, the officials also agreed to accelerate the settlement of the aftermath of war in Viet Nam.
