A new e-government system was officially put into operation in Da Nang on Tuesday morning.

The system will supply 1,196 online services along with 498 public services of many types.  They include the granting of business, investment, construction and vehicle driving licences, along with land use rights certificates.  In addition, the system will assist in the management of public transport, plus the information technology (IT) and communications infrastructure and electronic synchronisation at ward and district levels.  Also, an interconnection between municipal, district, ward and commune levels will be created.

Thanks to the e-government system, local residents and businesses will be able to keep a close eye on the handling of administrative procedures.  In addition, it will improve the operation of State administrative agencies, as well as allow the city’s leaders to improve their management capacity and deal with related issues promptly and effectively.  Furthermore, e-government will save costs and shorten the time for administrative procedures for local residents, organisations and businesses, as well as ensure transparency and remedy any shortcomings in the public administrative services.

Addressing the launching of the system, the Minister of Information and Communications, Mr Nguyen Bac Son, remarked that the operation of e-government will make Da Nang one of the pioneers in developing an overall structure of e-governance in line with the development of local infrastructure and human resources.  Thanks to this, local residents, businesses and organisations will have access to better public administrative services.

The Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, Mr Van Huu Chien, said that e-government will play an important role in helping Da Nang reach its target of becoming one of the largest urban areas in Viet Nam and a socio-economic hub in the central region and Highlands.  He added that the system will also turn Viet Nam into a modern industrial country by 2020, as well as create a momentum for accelerating the progress of localities in the central region and highlands.
