Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Viet Dung recently presented his credentials to the Head of the Independent State of Samoa, Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi, officially becoming a non-resident Vietnamese Ambassador in Samoa.

At the reception, the Vietnamese envoy extended regards from State President Truong Tan Sang to Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi and briefed the host on Vietnam’s socio-economic development and international integration achievements in recent years, as well as targets and strategies for future national development.

Dung affirmed the Government and people of Viet Nam recognise the importance of fortifying the friendship and cooperation with Samoa and suggested the two countries seek appropriate measures to intensify bilateral cooperation in economics, trade, agriculture, tourism and people to-people exchange.

In return, Tamasese Efi praised Viet Nam’s accomplishments in socio-economic development and international integration and voiced his nation’s desire to expand bilateral relations.

On the occasion, Dung also paid a courtesy visit to Lupe-soliai Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Finance Minister of the Independent State of Samoa, and met with foreign and trade officials.
