City leaders visit Military Zone 5 and Naval Zone 3

On Monday, a group of Da Nang's leaders, led by municipal Party Committee Secretary Vo Cong Tri, paid visits to the high commands of Military Zone 5 and Naval Zone 3 on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the founding of the Viet Nam People's Army and the 26th anniversary of the Whole People's Defence Festival Day (22 December).

On behalf of the city's leaders, Secretary Tri highly praised the Military Zone 5 High Command for their remarkable achievements and their great efforts for the city’s progress and ensuring local security and defence.

In reply, Zone 5’s Deputy Political Commissar, Major General Trinh Dinh Thach, thanked the city’s leaders and local people for their active support for his unit to fulfil its assigned tasks.  He took the opportunity to ask the local authorities to continue giving their support to his unit to build a stronger and more modern unit in the year ahead.

During his meeting with leaders of the Zone 3 Naval High Command, the city leader highlighted the great efforts made by local naval soldiers in protecting the national sovereignty over its sea and islands.  He hoped that the officers and men of Zone 3 would continue upholding the heroic tradition of protecting the country’s sovereignty and promote the city’s prosperity next year.

Zone 3’s Political Commissar, Rear Admiral Nguyen Tien Dung, affirmed that in the current context of the complicated situation in the East Sea, his unit’s officers and men would take the initiative in responding to all situations, as well as becoming actively involved in search and rescue activities at sea and ensuring the safety of local fishermen in the country’s traditional fishing grounds.
