Promoting bilateral cooperation with both the USA and Japan
During his reception on Wednesday for a group from the USA’s Portland State University (PSU), Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh expressed his delight at the fruitful results from the numerous cooperative programmes operating between PSU and Da Nang over recent years.
Vice Chairman Minh took the opportunity to ask PSU to organise more training courses and seminars on urban and public service management in Da Nang in the near future. He said that this would help Da Nang to develop more suitable mechanisms and policies to boost socio-economic development in the city, and in the neighbouring localities of Hoi An, Hue, and Quang Nam Province’s Dien Ban District.
He also asked for PSU’s help to appeal for more investment into Da Nang from Portland State, and by promoting start-up business activities between the two localities.
A representative from PSU promised that lecturers and experts from his university would be sent to the University of Da Nang to provide training courses for local students. The courses will be on various aspects, including embedded system design, robotics, and urban and public service management.

Also on the same day, representatives from the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs (DOFA) played host to a group from the Hokkaido Facility Management Association in Japan. The purpose of their visit was to learn about the city's investment climate and its tourism sector.
Representatives from DOFA said that Da Nang would like the Japanese government to ease visa procedures for Vietnamese workers and students who want to work and study in Japan. They also took the opportunity to appeal for more Japanese businesses to open representative offices in Da Nang in order to seek investment opportunities with partners in the city.
