Get-together for senior revolutionaries
To mark the 41st anniversary of the liberation of Quang Nam-Da Nang (29 March), a get-together took place in the city on Thursday. This was for former senior officials of the Quang Da Special Zone and Quang Nam Province’s resistance movement during the anti-American resistance war. The event was jointly chaired by the Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee, Mr Nguyen Xuan Anh, and his counterpart from Quang Nam Province, Mr Nguyen Ngoc Quang.
At the event, Secretary Xuan Anh and his counterpart briefed the participants on the socio-economic development of the two localities over recent years.
During his speech at the event, the Da Nang leader highlighted the great efforts of the authorities and people in the two localities towards progress. Their focus has been on boosting bilateral cooperation in urban planning, developing infrastructure, coping with climate change, and managing natural resources, as well as promoting the development of the economy, society, tourism and culture.
The senior revolutionaries reviewed the zone’s glorious history. To uphold the revolutionary tradition, they always try to set good examples for the next generations, and strive to continue devoting their talents and energy to the construction and protection of the Fatherland, even though many are now living in different parts of the country.

He said, “All of the senior revolutionaries are old, some have passed away, and some are not in the best of health. I will try to attend this annual event as long as I am still alive. This meaningful get-together gives us the chance to meet with our former comrades and to recall our past glorious history. In particular, the event will encourage younger generations to pay respect to the past”.
All the participants expressed their belief that the leaders of Da Nang and Quang Nam will continue their efforts and show dedication and devotion for their localities’ growth, thereby making their hometowns even more beautiful and prosperous.
Also at the event, the two leaders presented gifts to the senior revolutionaries, extended best wishes to them all, and praised their significant contributions to the two localities’ progress in peacetime. In addition, the two leaders also took the opportunity to encourage the senior revolutionaries to continue to contribute their intellectual and experiential knowledge to the development of their beloved hometowns in the future.
