City leader hosts foreign defence and military attachés
On Thursday, the Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Phung Tan Viet, played host to a group of foreign defence and military attachés in Viet Nam, led by Col Kgotso Abiel Mpiwa, the South African defence attaché.
Vice Chairman Viet said, “I am so very pleased to welcome all of you. Da Nang always respects comprehensive cooperation with your countries in all aspects, including defence, in the hope of ensuring a peaceful and stable development environment in Asia, and in the world as a whole.”
The city leader also took the opportunity to ask the guests to share with the city their valuable experiences of search and rescue work at sea, and appeal for more investors from their countries to invest in the city’s information technology and tourism aspects.

The host answered questions raised by the visitors on some pressing issues. Included were the East Sea situation, investment promotion activities, improvement of the city’s competitiveness for FDI attraction, and how to respond to climate change and sea level rises.
On behalf of the attachés, Col Kgotso spoke highly of the great potential, strengths, and rapid growth of Da Nang over recent years. He affirmed that the visit is a great opportunity for him and his group members to learn more about the land and people of the city, and Viet Nam as a whole, as well as to enhance mutual understanding between the Viet Nam People's Army and the armed forces of foreign countries worldwide.
The delegation is scheduled to pay a courtesy visit to the Military Zone 5 High Command, and explore the beauty of some of the city’s popular tourist attractions, and Quang Nam Province’s Hoi An City, on 8 and 9 April.
