City leaders host new Lao Ambassador
During his recent meetings with Da Nang’s leaders, the new Lao Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Viet Nam, Mr Thongsavanh Phomvihane, pledged to do his utmost during his tenure to foster bilateral cooperation with Da Nang.
He expressed his delight at the fruitful results from the bilateral cooperative programmes with Da Nang over recent years. He also took the opportunity to ask the Da Nang authorities to continue giving assistance to Laotian localities.
In reply, Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Xuan Anh congratulated the Ambassador on his new position and asked him to make every effort during his tenure to lift the bilateral cooperative relationships with Da Nang to new heights in the near future.

Secretary Anh extended his best wishes to the Lao Communist Party and government leaders on the occasion of their traditional Bunpimay New Year festival. He promised to provide more support for southern provinces of Laos and the Laos Consulate General in Da Nang in the spirit of comradeship and brotherhood.
Mr Huynh Duc Tho, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, spoke highly of the remarkable achievements from the bilateral cooperation with Laotian localities. In particular, many of the city’s education and agriculture support programmes have been effectively implemented in southern and central provinces of Laos. The Viet Nam-Laos investment cooperation conference was held in the city last month with the adoption of many strategic cooperative policies.
Chairman Tho said he hoped that the opening of Vientiane-Da Nang direct flights and the building of the East-West Economic Corridor No 2 would be implemented as soon as possible in order to promote the socio-economic growth of the 2 localities.
