During its first term from 2016 to 2021, the newly-founded branch will enhance its important role in promoting people-to-people diplomatic activities between the city and Cambodian localities.  This will help maintain peace as well as strengthen bilateral solidarity, friendship and cooperation with the Cambodian people through their practical cooperative solutions.

Addressing the event, Deputy Secretary Tri emphasised “The establishment of the branch marks a new step in bolstering the city’s people-to-people diplomatic activities in the context of the newly-established ASEAN Economic Community”.

The city leader also asked the branch to highlight the motto ‘Good neighbours and long-term sustainability’ in promoting the bilateral friendship and cooperative relations with Cambodia.

He added that importance should be attached to attracting more young members to the branch and promoting bilateral educational cooperation in order to deepen mutual understanding and emotional attachment between the young people of the 2 countries.

Special heed should also be paid to encouraging more local departments, associations and businesses to become actively involved in promoting local people-to-people exchanges with Cambodia.
