On Wednesday, Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary Vo Cong Tri paid an inspection visit to the construction site of the Hoang Sa Exhibition House at the corner of Hoang Sa and Phan Ba Phien streets in Man Thai Ward, Son Tra District.

He was accompanied by municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung and some representatives from the Hoang Sa Islands District People's Committee and the city’s Historical Science Association.

Covering an area of 1,926m2, the 4-storey house will cost 43.3 billion VND from the city’s budget.  Work started on the site in December 2015 and to date, 80% of the project's construction work has been completed.

It was reported that a special feature - the image of the national flag on the front of the exhibition house - will have to use construction materials imported from other countries, and that the work will be carried out by foreign construction workers.  As a result, the cost of the project is likely to increase.

Vice Chairman Dung asked the Hoang Sa Islands District People's Committee, as soon as possible, to submit its plans to the city’s authorities for selecting contractors to implement interior decorations on the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis.

Deputy Secretary Tri stressed the need for construction units to accelerate their work in order to ensure that the project will be completed no later than the end of this year.  He also noted that the deployment of the work featuring the image of the national flag should meet the technical and aesthetic requirements of the project’s design.

The city leader also took the opportunity to urge the Hoang Sa Islands District People's Committee to select and train the staff for the exhibition house before it is put into use.

Meanwhile, the city’s Historical Science Association should work closely with other local relevant agencies to make appeals to both domestic and foreign collectors for donations of artifacts and documents about the Hoang Sa archipelago for display.
