As part of their ongoing working trip to northern localities, a group of Da Nang’s leaders, led by municipal Party Committee (PC) Deputy Secretary Vo Cong Tri, recently met with his counterpart from Hai Phong City, Mrs Nguyen Thi Nghia.

Hai Phong PC Deputy Secretary Nghia remarked that her city and Da Nang share many similarities in their progress, and she highlighted the fruitful sister-city relationship with Da Nang over recent years.  She said she hopes that the 2 localities will boost their bilateral cooperation and mutual support activities to bolster their socio-economic development and Party building work, which in turn will help to make more breakthroughs in boosting the whole country’s progress.

In reply, Deputy Secretary Tri said he would like the Hai Phong leaders to share their socio-economic development experiences, especially in attracting domestic and foreign investment into their locality.  He also emphasised that his city wants to learn from Hai Phong’s valuable experiences and its innovations to make Da Nang a more modern, civilised, beautiful and peaceful city.

During their meeting, the 2 sides also discussed policies for enhancing Party building, with a focus on training local government staff at grass-roots level, enhancing the performance of the Party organisations of non-State-owned businesses, and developing more Party members in their localities.

On the same day, the Da Nang delegation visited LG Electronics Viet Nam Hai Phong in the northern city’s Trang Due Economic Zone.  The company has poured 1.5 billion USD into developing modern and automated production lines, and the majority of its products are exported.

The Da Nang group also had a working session with representatives from Quang Ninh Province’s PC.  Deputy Secretary Tri thanked Quang Ninh’s leaders for sharing their experiences in perfecting the political system and rearranging government cadres.

On 28 May, the Da Nang delegation also visited some construction works being developed by Da Nang’s Sun Group in the province’s Ha Long City.  Included were the Ha Long-Ocean Park in Bai Chay Ward, and a cable car system which has won 3 Guinness World Records: the highest cable pillar, the biggest cabins, and the greatest cabin capacity (up to 230 passengers in each).
