Ensuring a democratic and lawful election
On Thursday, Da Nang Party Committee (PaC) Secretary Nguyen Xuan Anh chaired a meeting to check the city’s preparations for the election of the forthcoming 14th National Assembly (NA) and all-level People's Councils (PCls) which will take place on 22 May.
According to the city’s Election Commission, preparations for the upcoming general elections are proceeding in accordance with the plan and on schedule at all local municipal, district, ward and commune levels. Relevant agencies have fulfilled their voting-related assigned tasks. Work to ensure security and safety for the elections has been the focus.

After the recent 3rd consultative conference in the city, a list of 8 eligible candidates running as deputies in the 14th NA, including 2 nominated by central government, and 1 self-nominee, was announced. In addition, 85 candidates for municipal-level, 417 for district-level, and 2,613 for ward and commune-level PCls, were also approved.
Speaking at the event, municipal PaC Deputy Secretary Vo Cong Tri stressed the need for relevant agencies to now increase the publicity about the election amongst local voters. Special attention should be paid to ensuring fairness between candidates, the accuracy of vote counting, and fire fighting and prevention.
After the meeting, Deputy Secretary Tri paid inspection visits to some voting venues and places displaying lists of voters in Son Tra District’s An Hai Bac and An Hai Dong wards.
