It was reported that a total of around 700,000 residents, accounting for 99.8% of the local electorate, cast their votes to fulfil their citizen rights.

Addressing the meeting, Chairman Tho remarked that the 5-yearly elections took place successfully in accordance with the laws.  The publicity for the elections, using visual advertising at voting venues and other local public areas, were implemented in an effective manner.  In particular, the focus was on boosting publicity about the elections amongst students, workers, fishermen and ethnic minority people.  During the elections, the city-based media agencies timely and accurately reported about the events, whilst security and safety at the local voting venues were ensured.

The city leader highly praised the local agencies at all levels for their great efforts in ensuring the success of the elections.

He also asked the municipal Election Committee to securely store the ballots collected from the local voting venues.
