On Tuesday, 152 delegates representing more than 130,000 young pioneers across Da Nang attended the 2016 municipal Congress of Uncle Ho's Good Grandchildren.  Held at the headquarters of the Da Nang Youth Union, the event honoured outstanding young pioneers’ teams over the 2015 - 2016 academic year.

Also present were Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee Nguyen Long Hai, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung, and Head of the Department of Publicity and Training Nguyen Thanh Quang. 

Addressing the event, Vice Chairman Dung expressed his delight at the remarkable achievements made by local children recently.  He said he hoped that they would continue with their efforts to gain more positive results in the years ahead.

He took the opportunity to appeal for local relevant agencies and parents to encourage their children to study and become actively involved in various social activities in order to increase their life skills, enhance their physical strength, and obtain their better academic results, as well as to promote the effective operation of their young pioneer organisations.

At the event, the 152 Uncle Ho’s good grandchildren were presented with gifts in recognition of their outstanding studying achievements and active involvement in their young pioneer organisations. 

In addition, ‘Outstanding Young Pioneer Organisations - Thousands of Good Deeds’ awards were given to 8 outstanding local organisations being honoured for the first time, 9 other organisations honoured for 2 consecutive years, 9 more for 3 consecutive years, and another 9 for 5 consecutive years.

Eleven outstanding individuals received Certificates of Merit from the municipal People’s Committee for their active involvement in implementing the ‘Vietnamese Children Implement 5 Things Uncle Ho Taught’ movement over the past 5 years.
