German businesses seek investment opportunities in the city

On Tuesday, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Tran Van Mien played host to a group from Germany’s Marquardt Group, led by their Vice President in Asia cum General Manager of Marquardt Shanghai in China, Dr Peter Schaumann.

Dr Schaumann remarked, “This is the 2nd time that the Marquardt Group has sent its representatives to Da Nang to learn about the city’s investment climate.  The group is seeking a suitable site in Viet Nam to build a manufacturing plant for hi-tech products used in the automotive industry and other industries”.

He proudly stated, “My group is one of Germany’s leading manufacturers of electro-mechanical and electronic switches for use in household, industrial, and automobile industries.  The group operates in all the important markets around the world and it has offices in 10 countries with more than 8,500 employees in total.  In 2015, our group’s revenue was 1 billion Euros”.

Vice Chairman Mien applauded the visit by his German guests.  He affirmed that the city is giving top priority to appealing for FDI inflows into its hi-tech industry.

Also on the same day, during another meeting with Vice Chairman Mien, the General Director of German ASEAN Power, Mr Moritz Sticher, proudly said “German ASEAN Power is a joint-venture business specialising in finance, construction and solar-powered plants.  Our main market is the ASEAN region”.

Mr Sticher remarked, “We are looking for an appropriate site in Da Nang for the construction of a solar power plant.  Our new facility is expected to have a total capacity of 400 MW and a total investment capital of 400 million USD”.

Vice Chairman Mien said, “Over recent years, we have been appealing for foreign businesses to invest in our city, with a focus on such local priority aspects as clean and renewable energy which matches the city’s development strategy of becoming an environmentally friendly city”.
