Learning from South Korea's experiences in public construction transparency
On Thursday, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Tran Van Mien and Mr In Seok Koh, a representative from the Seoul Metropolitan Infrastructure Headquarters in South Korea, jointly chaired a talk in Da Nang about public construction transparency.
The South Korean guest remarked that his city, over recent years, has effectively operated its ‘Allimi’ website which displays all necessary information on its public construction projects, including a project’s name, developer and contractor, and the schedules, costs and site photographs. He emphasised that the website aims to ensure the transparency of public construction management, and it receives high praise from Seoul’s citizens.

Also at the event, there were discussions about the application of a similar ‘Allimi’ website in Da Nang to give local residents access to information on the city’s public construction works. In particular, databases on public biddings would help in the choice of prestigious contractors to ensure the quality and aesthetics of the public projects, and guarantee their on-schedule implementation.
Vice Chairman Mien proudly said that Da Nang boasts its improved IT infrastructure and high-quality human resources. With the local authorities’ strong determination, the city could easily introduce an ‘Allimi’ website. He added that the transparency of local public construction works would attract more domestic and foreign investment inflows into the city.
