On Monday, National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and other NA high-ranking officials met with Da Nang’s leaders to discuss the Politburo’s Directive No 33-NQ/TW about promoting the development of Da Nang in the current context of the country’s industrialisation and modernisation.
There were discussions about the central government’s preferential mechanisms concerning investment, finance, budgetary status and decentralisation for the city in order to help Da Nang become an industrial city, and the most important driving force for boosting the whole central region’s progress, by 2020.

Municipal People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho remarked that his city’s remarkable achievements have been mainly attributed to the efficient use of the financial resources.
NA Chairwoman Ngan emphasised that Da Nang has seen rapid growth over recent years, and it therefore deserves more preferential mechanisms issued by the central government to make even more breakthroughs in its development in future years.
As for the rewarding percentages, from 1 January 2017 the city will be allowed to use 40% of its annual tax revenues instead of the current 30% to further its growth. The city authorities were asked to tighten their controls over public debt and budget deficit.
