During his reception, Vice Chairman Mien said “Da Nang is now home to around 20 Taiwanese-investment projects totalling 188 million USD. Recent years have also seen numerous fruitful results from the bilateral educational cooperation with Taiwanese universities.”
He took the opportunity to ask the Ha Noi-based Taipei Office to appeal for more Taiwanese businesses to invest in the city’s hi-tech and dedicated information technology (IT) industrial parks (IPs). One focus could be on helping Da Nang train high-quality human resources in such aspects as IT, educational management and agriculture. Importance will be attached to promoting the opening of direct flights between Da Nang and Taipei or Kaohsiung in Taiwan as soon as possible.
In reply, Mr Shih thanked the local authorities for facilitating businesses from his country to operate effectively in the city. He hoped that the bilateral cooperative relations with Da Nang would be strengthened in the years ahead.
The visitor vowed that he would do his utmost to appeal for more Taiwanese businesses to seek investment opportunities in Da Nang.
On the same day, Vice Chairman Mien met with representatives from the Singaporean company Pegasus Consulting and Investment, and he spoke highly of the efficiency of the Pegasus-invested projects in the city.

Mr Mien highlighted the vital role of the 5.1ha Pegasus International UniCollege in Ngu Hanh Son District’s Hoa Quy Ward in training high-quality human resources for the city in order to meet the increasing demand from its tourism sector. He said that the implementation of the Khe Ram eco-tourism site in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Bac Commune would help the district to promote the development of local eco-tourism in the future.
Mr Ricky Tan, Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors, underlined that his company plans to upgrade the Pegasus International UniCollege into a university. Once operational as the university, a sports area, student halls of residence, and an apartment and hotel complex for students to practise will be added. The intention is to offer study opportunities for 10,000 students from both home and abroad.
