Secretary Anh praised the great success of the recent 10th Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the 10th Congress of the Attapeu Provincial Party Committee, and the elections for the deputies to the 8th Lao National Assembly and the municipal-level People’s Council.  He also congratulated Mr Samane Viyaket on his re-election as Secretary of the provincial Party Committee.

The city leader affirmed that the Party and people of Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, would make every effort to strengthen their long-lasting relationships with Laos, in particular Da Nang’s with Attapeu Province.

He revealed that 12.7 billion VND from Da Nang’s city budget will go to help the Laotian province between 2018 and 2022.  Special attention will be paid to sending teachers from Da Nang to the Lao province’s Vietnamese Language Centre to teach the Vietnamese language.  Also, officials from the provincial Department of Education and Sports, and the Agriculture and Forestry Department, will be encouraged to exchange experiences with their counterparts in the city.  Computers will be donated to the Attapeu Primary School, and some social welfare programmes in the province will be implemented.

In reply, Governor Viyaket expressed his delight at the fruitful results from Da Nang’s support programmes during the 2013 - 2017 period.  In particular, the city has spent 18.3 billion VND on implementing economic, educational, sports, transport, and investment projects in the province.  These projects have helped to promote the province’s socio-economic development.

On behalf of the Da Nang delegation, Secretary Anh gave 440 million VND from the city budget to implement some social welfare programmes in the province.

On the same day, the Da Nang leaders attended the inauguration ceremony of the Muong May Primary School in Attapeu Province.  Funded by Da Nang city, the 5.247 billion VND 2-storey school features 6 classrooms.  To mark the event, the city’s representatives donated 2 computers to the school.

During his meeting with the Sekong Province authorities on the same day, Secretary Anh thanked them for their respectful reception.

The Da Nang and Sekong Province representatives together highlighted the positive results from their bilateral cooperation programmes during the 2013 - 2017 period.

Over the period, financial assistance has been given for the Vietnamese People’s Association in Sekong Province to build the 2nd phase of the Viet Nam-Laos Friendship School.  In addition, 3 full and 2 half tuition fee university scholarships, and 2 full and 2 half tuition fee postgraduate ones, have been granted from Da Nang to Lao students every year.  The total funding amounts to 14.872 billion VND.

During their meeting, the Da Nang and Sekong Province representatives entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on implementing 7 projects in the province over the 2017 - 2022 period.  A total of 22.74 billion VND will be used to train Lao government officials, facilitating them to exchange experiences with their counterparts in Da Nang, to upgrade the Vietnamese People’s Association Friendship Primary School into a junior high school, and to buy new computers for the school.

Secretary Anh also gave 440 million VND from the city budget to the province to implement some local social welfare activities.

Previously, the group of Da Nang leaders visited the Academy of Politics and Public Administration in Sekong Province.  Funded by Da Nang city, the 10 billion VND Academy was officially put into use in March 2011.  Secretary Anh took the opportunity to encourage the Academy’s staff members to make every effort to fufil their assigned tasks.  He also presented 7 laptops to the school, all bought from the city budget.
