Da Nang has opposed China’s organisation of an election for the so-called Sansha city in the East Sea.

Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Huynh Duc Tho issued a statement of opposition on October 10.

He noted that Da Nang's administration is once again seriously concerned about China’s organisation of an election of deputies to a People’s Congress of the so-called Sansha city on September 22.

The election organisation in the area that is part of Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos has seriously violated Viet Nam’s sovereignty, he stressed.

“Da Nang resolutely rejects and strongly objects to the abovementioned action and demands China not repeat similar actions,” Tho emphasised.
