While in Viet Nam, the Iranian leader held talks with President Quang, and met with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

On this occasion, Vietnamese and Iranian ministries of industry and agriculture, and State banks compared note on their bilateral cooperation.

At these meetings, the two sides agreed on the need to increase the exchange of all-level delegations via channels of their Governments, legislatures, localities, people and businesses.

They will soon organise the 9th meeting of the Viet Nam-Iran Inter-Governmental Committee in order to translate agreements reached during President Hassan Rouhani’s visit to Viet Nam into deeds, while boosting consulting each other at regional and international forums.

They affirmed their willingness to strengthen their multi-faceted cooperation for the advancement and prosperity of Asia, including the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The two sides consented to boost their affiliation in trade and investment, aiming to bring the bilateral trade to 2 billion USD in the time ahead.

Other cooperation areas to receive a boost include combats against smuggling and cross-border crimes, higher education, tourism, health care, youth affairs, sports and immigration.

During the trip, the two Presidents witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in information-communications, and an agreement of visa exemption for official passport holders.
