The direct delivery of birth certificates, health insurance cards and residence papers for newborn babies to their homes is one of Da Nang’s great efforts to accelerate its administrative reforms more effectively for the benefit of citizens.  The new service is receiving high appreciation from local residents.

These statements were made by municipal People’s Committee (PC) Chairman Huynh Duc Tho at the monthly meeting of the city’s PC on Wednesday.

Chairman Tho asked the municipal Department of Home Affairs and other relevant local agencies to introduce even more innovations to improve the quality of administrative reforms to allow local citizens easier and more convenient access to administrative services.

The city leader also highlighted the importance of regularly monitoring the performance of local government employees involved in receiving and handling administrative procedures to ensure that they show a friendly and polite attitude and behaviour towards residents and businesses.  Greater efforts will be made to boost the operation of an online system which allows the general public to assess the performance of these government employees.

As for the operation of local irrigation works, Chairman Tho agreed to issue mechanisms concerning decentralisation of the management of irrigation systems to local relevant agencies.  The city’s Irrigation Exploitation and Management Company will operate locally important reservoirs with capacities above 500,000m3

With regard to other local matters of high concern, the municipal Party Committee recently released Directive 09-CT/TU about promoting the Party organisation’s management of food safety and hygiene.

The focus will be on raising awareness of food safety and hygiene amongst local Party members, local government officials and employees, local residents, and food manufacturing and trading establishments.

Local media agencies will increase their publicity of the city’s food safety and hygiene regulations and standards.  The names of violators will be widely displayed in the local mass media, whilst local organisations and individuals will be honoured and rewarded for their active involvement in ensuring food safety and hygiene.

In particular, a special team will be established under the direct control of the municipal PC to enhance the State management of all local issues relating to food safety and hygiene.
