On Tuesday, Mr Dinh The Huynh, a Politburo member, standing member of the Secretariat of the Vietnamese Party Central Committee, and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, along with Da Nang’s National Assembly (NA) members met with voters from the districts of Hai Chau, Thanh Khe and Cam Le.  The aim was to hear about local issues of most concern to them.

Voters from the districts raised their concerns about some national matters.

Included are the increasing public debt, complicated corruption, the wasteful use of state-owned vehicles with blue registration plates, and the inefficiency of many large-scale projects causing huge financial losses to the State’s budget over recent years.  These matters have triggered a lot of public discontent.

In particular, voter Ho Ke Phan from Cam Le District raised his voice against recent reports of unreasonable personnel appointments, the overspending of the national health insurance fund, the loose management of food safety and hygiene, and other matters of high concern.

In reply, Mr Huynh spoke highly of all the matters raised by the local voters as well as their constructive recommendations.  He vowed that he and the city’s NA members would do their utmost to answer all the questions raised by the voters in a timely fashion.

Mr Huynh also affirmed that the NA is making every effort to tighten the management of public debt, promote State budget spending cuts, and combat waste and corruption.  In an attempt to solve bad debts, the focus is now on boosting the restructuring of the domestic commercial banks across the country.

As for fighting against complicated corruption, the largest ever corruption cases will be brought to court by the end of this year.  Heavier punishments will be imposed on offenders, and honour will be given to those who become actively involved in combatting corruption.

With regard to food safety and hygiene, Mr Huynh highlighted the importance of ensuring joint efforts between the national political system and the ministries of Health, Industry and Trade, and Agriculture and Rural Development in order to ensure food safety.

The Politburo member also stressed the need for the Da Nang authorities to promote the fight against corruption and other negative phenomena.  Greater efforts will be make to safeguard national sovereignty, promote the build-operate-transfer (BOT) form of investment in building local roads, and issue even more preferential policies for teachers in remote and mountainous areas.

Mr Huynh also took the opportunity to ask the city authorities to consider the population of local residential quarters in order to manage effectively and satisfy the legitimate aspirations of their residents.

In particular, Mr Huynh agreed with recommendations raised by the local voter about the posthumous bestowment of the Hero of Labour title to the late Party Committee Secretary and People’s Council Chairman Nguyen Ba Thanh, who died in February 2015, in recognition of his special efforts and dedication to the city’s progress.
