Speaking at the event, municipal People’s Committee (PC) Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung remarked that recent years have seen significant innovations and advances in the city’s emulation and awards activities.  Numerous emulation programmes and campaigns have been launched and effectively implemented in the city.  Included were ‘Da Nang makes efforts to build new rural areas’, ‘All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas’, ‘Day for the Poor’, and ‘Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods’.

Municipal PC Chairman Huynh Duc Tho suggested that local relevant agencies should issue clearer criteria for emulation and awards, and give more awards to those who have highly-applicable initiatives.

Vice Chairman Nhan highly praised the positive results from the city’s emulation and awards activities, its socio-economic development tasks, and its security and defence work over last year and the 9 months of this year so far.

He added that special attention should be paid to honouring more workers, farmers and manual labourers in order to encourage them to make even more efforts to fufil their assigned tasks.  He urged local relevant agencies to complete the necessary procedures to award the title of Labour Hero to outstanding local residents and government employees to mark 20 years since the city’s recognition as a centrally-governed city on 1 January 1997.
