5 cities to light up tonight to mark ASEAN's 50th founding anniversary
Ha Noi, HCMC, Hai Phong, Da Nang and Can Tho will light them up tonight (8 August) to mark the 50th founding anniversary of ASEAN.
The artistic illumination performances will feature 3 symbolic colours of ASEAN, namely red, blue, and yellow.
The activity was initiated by the Philippines, the host of ASEAN 2017. Accordingly, localities of the 10 ASEAN member states will conduct ASEAN Landmarks Lighting on 8 August.
In Ha Noi, at the August Revolution Square, an illumination complex will be on display.
In Hai Phong, the flag tower at the City Opera House will be installed with 13 logos of ASEAN.
In Da Nang, lighting activities will take place on the Pham Van Dong and Vo Nguyen Giap streets, in front of the entrance gate to the Asian Park, and at the intersection of the Bach Dang and Nguyen Van Linh streets.
In HCMC, artistic performance and 3D graphics will be held at the Independence Place, the Municipal Theatre, the HCMC Museum, the city’s Post Office, and the headquarters of the municipal People’s Committee.
In Can Tho City, lighting hallmarks will take place at the Ninh Kieu Riverside, whilst Hai Ba Trung Street will be lit up with artistic lights.
