PM hosts banquet for foreign diplomats, friends on National Day

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his wife hosted a banquet for ambassadors and head of international organisations in Viet Nam and their spouses in Ha Noi on August 31 on the occasion of the 72nd National Day (September 2).

Addressing the event, the PM reviewed the country’s achievements over the past 72 years, highlighting that Viet Nam is always a friend and trustworthy partner of countries around the world.

Noting common challenges facing the world, he said that Viet Nam always works hard to join the international community’s efforts for a world without war and poverty.

He recognised international friends’ support to Viet Nam’s attempts to build a constructive Government, he said that Viet Nam is focusing on implementing breakthrough measures and drastic moves to improve the economy’s productivity and competitiveness, speeding up administrative reform and backing businesses.

With its foreign policy of independence and self-reliance, Viet Nam has strengthened international cooperation and integration as well as its efforts in building the ASEAN Community, he stated.  The PM also said that Viet Nam is working hard to show good performance in hosting the APEC Year 2017.

He thanked governments and people of foreign countries as well as international and regional organisations and international partners and friends, expressing his hope to receive further support from them.

On behalf of the guests, Venezuelan Ambassador Jorge Rodon Uzcategui, who is also head of the diplomatic corps, in Ha Noi congratulated Viet Nam on the National Day.

He lauded Viet Nam’s attainments in socio-economic development with GDP growth reaching 6.21% in 8 months of this year and likely hitting 6.7% for the whole year.

He said that Viet Nam is a responsible country in external relations activities, with up close partnership with other developing countries, mainly in agriculture, thus contributing to the equal and sustainable development of the world.

He also praised Viet Nam’s efforts in hosting the APEC Year 2017, while expressing his belief that the event will be a success.
