The information was released at the 9th meeting of the APEC 2017 National Committee in Ha Noi on Wednesday under the chair of the Committee’s President cum Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh.

Addressing the meeting, Da Nang People’s Committee (PC) Chairman Huynh Duc Tho and PC Vice Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Tuan proudly remarked that key infrastructure facilities are now ready to serve AELW 2017.  Most notable are the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, the International Press Media, the Ariyana Convention and Exhibition Centre (ADECC) at the Furama Resort Danang, the Tien Son Sports Arena, the Sheraton Hotel and the new international passenger terminal at the Da Nang International Airport.

Furthermore, 21 major local routes have already been refurbished in preparation for AELW 2017.  The 2nd fact-finding visit to these venues will be conducted by representatives from the APEC member economies in early October.

The expansion of the current aircraft apron area and the construction of a new taxiway at the airport is now progressing well with completion set for by the end of September.

The construction of the APEC Park is being kept on track on a 3.047m2 triangular-shaped vacant land lot at the intersection area of 2 September street and Bach Dang extended street, near the western end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge, in Hai Chau District’s Binh Hien Ward.

The park features tiled pathways and pedestrian areas within a total area of 752m2, whilst the remainder of the site are designated for planting trees and grasses.

The placing of the symbols of APEC's 21 member economies will be completed by 25 October.

The city’s leaders also said relevant local agencies have taken effective measures to ensure security and environmental sanitation, and to refurbish the pavement of some local major streets, as well as to improve urban landscapes.

Also, special heed has been paid to appealing for local residents, along with service providers and taxi companies’ associations to become actively involved in promoting the beautiful image of the city in the eye of international friends.

The city authorities have worked closely with subcommittees of security and health of the APEC 2017 National Committee in a bid to ensure ultimate security during the upcoming AELW 2017.

In similar vein, the reception services, especially plans to handle any unexpected incidents during the AELW 2017, have been prepared carefully.

Deputy Prime Minister Minh noted that there are only 46 days left to AELW 2017.  He, therefore, underscored the need for Da Nang to complete the remaining preparatory tasks in a faster, and more effective and synchronous manner, and to strictly implement directions from the Party and State leaders.  This, thereby, helps to ensure the great success of this international large-scale event.

The national government leader also highly lauded subcommittees of the APEC 2017 National Committee and related localities for successfully organising activities nationwide within the framework of the ‘APEC Viet Nam 2017’ programme over recent months.

In particular, Deputy Prime Minister Minh highlighted the importance of promoting cultural and publicity activities in showing of Viet Nam’s cultural identity and the host country’s considerate treatment towards APEC gussets, and advertising its image as a dynamic, innovative and modern country to international friends.
