President sends thank-you letter to Russian President

President Tran Dai Quang has sent a letter to thank President Vladimir Putin, the Government, and people of Russia for their prompt and valuable aid for the Vietnamese people affected by typhoon Damrey.

On Tuesday, the Russian President instructed the Government of Russia to provide an emergency aid worth 5 million USD to help Viet Nam recover from the severe damage caused by storm Damrey in the central region.

On Wednesday, an aircraft of the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Affairs for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters landed the Cam Ranh Airport in Khanh Hoa Province with relief goods for the storm victims.

According to the National Committee for Search and Rescue, storm Damrey hit Viet Nam last Saturday. 

Following downpours and floods had claimed 89 lives, and left 18 missing and 174 others injured in central and highlands localities as of Tuesday night.
