The Da Dong C submerged island boasts its important position in protecting the country’s sovereignty over its sea and islands, and facilitating fishermen to conduct their fishing activities.

Officers and men on the island have always done their utmost to fulfil their assigned tasks well, strictly obeyed the military service rules, and ensured the safety of fishermen.

During their visit to naval soldiers on the Truong Sa Island, over 200 visitors from the mainland, joined the island’s officers and men for a solemn flag-raising ceremony. They were also briefed on significant achievements gained by the naval soldiers about the protection of national maritime sovereignty.

The Truong Sa Island is the largest in the Truong Sa Archipelago. The island’s People’s Committee has been already established, and there are many families residing there.

Over the last year and the first 4 months of this year, the island’s officers and men assisted over 360 fishing boats from Da Nang and other localities to conduct their fishing activities near the island.

In addition, they helped 13 fishermen in distress, and gave free medical examination and medicines to over 200 local residents. A total of over 70 million VND was also raised to help poor families living on the island.

Also, the Da Nang guests offered incense at the Truong Sa Martyrs' Monument and the late President Ho Chi Minh Memorial House. They then visited the Truong Sa Pagoda, and graves of 2 Vietnamese soldiers who laid down their lives on duty in the island.

In the evening of the same day, the visitors took part in musical exchange activities with naval soldiers and residents on the island. They were thrilled with fascinating performances of songs about seas and islands by singers and artistes from the city’s Trung Vuong Theatre, plus the island’s officers and men.

During their visits to the 2 islands, the visitors donated 4 computers and printers, 4 water purifiers, and 69 packages of necessities to the officers and men there. In addition, 5 million VND in cash from the city budget was also given to a poor family on the Da Dong C Island.
