32 works win 2018 municipal Press Awards
A ceremony recently took place in Da Nang to celebrate the 94th anniversary of Viet Nam’s Revolutionary Press Day (21 June) and honour the winners of the city-level Press Awards 2018.

Attending the event were municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary Vo Cong Tri, Fatherland Front Committee Chairwoman Dang Thi Kim Lien, People’s Committee Vice Chairman cum Head of the organising board of this year’s Press Awards Le Trung Chinh, Head of the municipal Party Committee’s Publicity and Training Board Tran Dinh Hong, Head of the municipal Party Committee’s Mass Mobilisation Board Pham Quy, Secretary of Hai Chau District’s Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Quang, and other invited guests.
In his remarks at the event, Chairman of the Da Nang Journalists' Association Nguyen Duc Nam highlighted positive changes made by the media industry in Da Nang, and in Viet Nam as a whole, over the past 94 years.
He underlined over recent years the city-based media agencies have publicised the guidelines and policies of the Party, the State and the city amongst local citizens in a prompt and effective manner.
In addition to providing their readers with multi-dimensional information in a prompt and effective manner, the media agencies helps to honour good deeds in life, strictly criticise any negative phenomena in society, and advertise the beautiful images of the city to both domestic and international friends.

Addressing the event, Deputy Secretary Tri highly praised reporters for their prize-winning works at this year’s event. Mr Tri also underlined the important role of reporters in developing Da Nang into a prosperous, civilised and modern city in the time ahead.
He took the opportunity to ask local media agencies to make greater efforts for the city’s progress in the years ahead.
The judge board received 109 entrants from a total of 22 national and local media agencies based in the city.
Also at the event, 5 first, 7 second, 9 third and 11 commendation prizes were awarded to the outstanding entrants.
Amongst the winners were reporters from the DA NANG Newspaper who received 1 first, 1 second, 3 third and 2 commendation prizes.

To mark the event, 4 individuals were presented recognition medals from the municipal Journalists' Association for their great dedication to the press.
On the occasion, 10 pupils and students, who are the children of the Association members, were presented scholarships, valued at 5 million VND each, for their great efforts in overcoming their difficulties to gain good academic results. The money came from the ‘Cup of Compassion Coffee’ programme’s fund.
