The figure was released by the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade officials at their Friday meeting with those from the Domestic Markets Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The majority of the aforementioned amounts has been spent on stockpiling such essential consumer goods with great consumption at Tet as rice and glutinous rice, meat, vegetables and fruits of all kinds, processed, canned and dried foods, and confectionery.
The Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade-organised market price stabilisation programmes will take place in the rural and mountainous communes of Hoa Lien and Hoa Phu in Hoa Vang District to meet the demand for their purchases of Tet goods.
Also, a Tet fair featuring about 300 booths with a variety of reasonably priced products will take shape in the coming time.
Within these days leading to the Tet festival, staff of Da Nang Market Management Bureau will increase their checks, and make every effort to ensure that the goods will be sold at the displayed prices.
Specifically, stricter penalties will be imposed on those who increase prices of essential goods excessively due to the scarcity of goods to generate illicit profits.
Heed also will be paid to dealing with smuggling, trading in fake goods and poor-quality items, and commercial fraud.
