Da Nang to celebrate World Water Day with practical activities
Da Nang has planned to launch practical activities to actively respond to the appeal made by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment for celebration of this year’s World Water Day, 22 March with the theme ‘Valuing water’.
The city will focus on promoting the IT application and online publicity methods, and working with media agencies in order to raise public awareness of the importance of water, oceans, weather and climate, as well as natural disaster mitigation, greenhouse gas emission reduction, energy saving, and the protection of natural resources and the environment.
Webinars, exchanges and other publicity activities will be held with the aim of widely conveying the message and theme of the World Water Day.
Besides, heed will be paid to installing panels, posters, slogans and photos, as well as the launching contest and forums on such social media channels such as Facebook and Instagram, and websites with content related to the theme of World Water Day 2021 in a bid to attract more public engagement in water protection.
The World Water Day celebrates water and raises awareness of the global water crisis, and a core focus of the observance is to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030.
The value of water is about much more than its price – water has enormous and complex value for our households, food, culture, health, education, economics and the integrity of our natural environment. If we overlook any of these values, we risk mismanaging this finite, irreplaceable resource. SDG 6 is to ensure water and sanitation for all. Without a comprehensive understanding of water’s true, multidimensional value, we will be unable to safeguard this critical resource for the benefit of everyone.
