Da Nang Party Chief plays host to Lao Ambassador

Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang played host to a Lao visiting delegation led by Lao Ambassador to Viet Nam Sengphet Houngboungnuang on Tuesday.

During his meeting with Lao guests, Secretary Quang extended his greetings to the Lao Ambassador and other members of the visiting delegation on the occasion of Bunpimay – the Lao traditional New Year Festival.

The Da Nang Party Chief also vowed that Da Nang government would continue its efforts to provide practical support for Southern and Central localities in Laos in an bid to promote their local development.

Mr Quang said Da Nang and Laotian localities, and Viet Nam and Laos at large, have yielded fruitful results in bilateral relations. He also highlighted the important role of the Consulate General of Laos in Da Nang in strengthening bilateral ties between Da Nang and Laotian localities.

The city Party Chief remarked that despite the impacts of COVID-19 and natural disasters on Da Nang economic growth in 2020, Da Nang continued to provide support for Laotian localities with a focus on helping Southern and Central localities to promote their social and economic development.

Mr Quang said that Da Nang will issue new policies and create new development strategies in the coming time in order to drive the city’s growth. This will help to bring more benefits to Laotian localties, and strengthen bilateral ties between Da Nang and Laotian localties, Mr Quang added.

Secretary Quang hoped that the visit by the Lao Ambassador will open up new opportunities to bilateral cooperation between Da Nang and Laotian localties. He also pledged that Da Nang government woud continue to provide support for  Southern and Central localities in Laos in accordance with signed cooperation agreements.

In reply, Lao Ambassador thanked Da Nang government for its active support given to Laotian localities. He also took the opportunities to express his thankfulness to both leaders of the Unveristy of Da Nang and men and officers of the Military Zone 5 for their efforts in helping Laotian localities.
