Press agencies actively support Da Nang's fight against COVID-19 resurgence

The Da Nang People's Committee on Friday held a get-together for the city-based journalists in recognition of the 96th anniversary of Viet Nam’s Revolutionary Press Day (21 June).

Notably, amongst the attendees were Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum municipal People's Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, and Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh.

Addressing the meeting, Chairman Chinh highly appreciated city-based press agencies for continuously and effectively disseminating reliable information on COVID-19 prevention and control missions in the city over recent times.

On behalf of the city's leaders, Chairman Chinh sincerely thanked press agencies for standing side by side and accompanying the local authorities in difficult times triggered by the complicated developments of COVID-19 with a high sense of responsibility.

For the time being, in addition to its four major newspapers, radio stations and magazines, the city houses the standing agencies and representative offices of 108 nationwide press agencies, with a combined total of about 800 journalists active in the city.

Da Nang now ranks third in the number of operating press agencies, after Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City.

“We always highly acknowledge the sincere contributions made by journalists and reporters working in Da Nang to the city’s development journey. Press agencies have acted as “a bridge” connecting the local authorities and residents, thereby creating a high consensus in effectively implementing the municipal administration-adopted policies and guidelines”, affirmed Chairman Chinh.

On behalf of journalist operating in Da Nang, Mr. Nguyen Duc Nam, Chairman of the municipal Journalists’ Association cum Editor-in-Chief of the Da Nang Newspaper thanked the city leaders for their kind concern and great encouragement given to press agencies across the city.

Over the past times, the city’s press force has been active in supporting the city’s fight against the virus resurgence, especially publicising the local authorities’ guidance on COVID-19 prevention and control activities.

In particular, field reporters demonstrated their dynamism in offering the public a great deal of accurate, transparent and latest updates from the frontlines of the city’s Covid-19 fight, with a heed paid to reassuring local residents in the toughest times, hereby building up the public trust and confidence in the city’s winning over the coronavirus.
