Viettel Da Nang receives Excellent Emulation Flag in production and business activities

On Wednesday, October 20, the Da Nang branch of the Viet Nam Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel Da Nang) held an event to celebrate its 20th birthday and to receive an Excellent Emulation Flags from the municipal People's Committee and Viettel Group in recognition of its significant achievements in production and business activities.

In his speech delivered at the ceremony, Director of Viettel Da Nang Huynh Ngoc Thuong said that his unit was established on October 15, 2001 under the name POP Da Nang which specialized in providing VoIP 178 long distance telephone service.

After 20 years of construction and development, Viettel Da Nang has now become one of the city’s key telecommunications, information technology and digital transformation service providers.

Viettel Da Nang boasts a robust and advanced telecommunications infrastructure with over 700 broadcasting stations, nearly 500,000 mobile subscribers and over 120,000 broadband fixed internet subscribers. The unit earns an annual revenue of close to VND700 billion, and makes it into the list of the city’s biggest tax payers.

Over recent years, Viettel Da Nang has actively carried out numerous volunteer programmes across the city, thereby significantly contributing to ensuring the city’s social welfare. Specially mentioned have been providing free 208 Internet connection cables for to schools, as well as made great contributions to the Heart Fund for You.

Most notably, since Da Nang braced for the 4th wave of COVID-19 infections, Viettel Da Nang has handed over 550 boxes of Vinamilk fresh milk totalling VND 200 million in donations to the Da Nang Department of Health to support healthcare workers who are on the frontlines of battling the novel coronavirus disease.

Additionally, Viettel has provided active support for Da Nang government to enable the city to promote the use of information technology in local pandemic prevention and control activities. Included are 5,000 4G sim cards given to doctors, nurses, police officers, and other workers who are on the frontlines of the fight against COVID-19, Telehealth which links the Da Nang Department of Health with the municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and 7 district-level medical centres.
