Christmas greetings extended to Catholic and Christian followers in Da Nang

On Saturday morning, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Mass Mobilisation Board Do Van Phoi visited the Diocese of Da Nang, and the city-based Viet Nam Christian Mission, in recognition of the upcoming Christmas and New Year seasons.

During his visits, Deputy Head Phoi briefed on Viet Nam’s socio-economic development and COVID-19 prevention and control work in 2021. He added, despite adverse impacts of COVID-19, Viet Nam has taken various effective measures to sustain the stable economy and ensure social welfare for local inhabitants.

He expressed appreciation towards the Catholics and the Christians, and in support for the country’s COVID-19 fight, noting about 1,000 Christian dignitaries have volunteered to aid COVID-19 response in all aspects of life. He highly praised religious followers nationwide for their generous donations to the national COVID-19 vaccine fund.

Mr Phoi added, in 2021, the country's growth is expected to reach 2%. This was a great efforts made by the Party, government and people of Viet Nam, including religious organizations.

He also wished the Catholic and Christian dignitaries and followers across the city, a happy and peaceful Christmas and New Year.

Deputy Head Phoi hoped that Bishop Dang Duc Ngan would continue closely coordinating with local authorities to encourage the Catholics to follow Party’s and State’s policies and strictly adhere to virus preventive measures to soon contain the pandemic and return to new normal state.

On behalf of the local Catholic community, Bishop Dang Duc Ngan affirmed that the Catholic community would continue efforts to actively get involved in patriotic emulation movements, supporting the city's fight against COVID-19, and bolstering the progress of the city, and that of the country as a whole.
