Protecting human rights in the context of COVID-19

In 2021, when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in Da Nang, authorities at all levels have taken drastic measures to stop virus spreading as well as ensure social welfare for residents, especially those directly affected by the pandemic.

As of December 6, more than VND29 billion VND from the city budget was used to support 53,593 people with meritorious services suffering from serious and frequent illnesses, those who are receiving monthly social allowances, and families living near or below the city’s poverty threshold.

Also, more than VND35.5 billion went to support 24,017 employees without labour contracts who had lost their jobs due to COVID-19.

Over VND7 billion was spent on supporting 1,718 people who agreed with their employers to suspend their employment contracts or take unpaid leave, VND 295 million for 227 workers who quitted their jobs, and more than VND1.64 billion for 389 those who are not ordinarily eligible for unemployment benefits.

1,390 children and adults who became COVID-19 patients and primary close contacts received financial support totaling nearly VND1.4 billion.

More than VND 9.6 billion worth of aid went to 2,605 tour guides, and nearly VND18.8 billion to 6,266 business households.

The whole city has been providing cash and in-kind support, totalling over VND 266.1 billion, for 486,509 disadvantaged families, and 257 social policy beneficiaries cared for at centralized nursing facilities.

As of December 7, 1,848,236 people were vaccinated against COVID-19, of which 966,311 people received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccines and 881,925 people fully got two jabs.
