19,800 Tet gifts given to poor workers

On Sunday morning, the Da Nang Confederation of Labour held the 'Tet is not far from home' programme 2022 to present Tet gifts to poor workers in order to show appreciation to migrant workers for their dedication to the city's development.

Chairman of the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour Nguyen Dinh Khang, Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee cum Chairman of the municipal People's Council Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, and Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People's Committee Ngo Thi Kim Yen, made their attendance at the event.

At the programme, on behalf of leaders of the municipal Party Committee, Deputy Secretary Triet presented a symbolic board of 5,000 Tet gifts, totalling VND2.5 billion, to trade union members and workers in difficult circumstances across the city.

Also, a representative from the Da Nang Confederation of Labour gave 10 symbolic Tet gifts, valued at VND1 million each, out of a total of 14,800 gifts to its members living in extremely difficult circumstances. This helped to bring the total number of Tet gifts for trade union members and workers throughout the city to 19,800.

On the occasion, the Da Nang Confederation of Lab also awarded Certificates of Merit, 'Thank you' commemorative medals, and cash rewards of 2 million VND each to 63 typical individuals. The recipients were trade union members or workers who have worked for 5 years or more, and have at least 1 initiative, a technical solution, or a creative idea that helps their businesses to find new consumer markets, and overcome current difficulties.

During the programme, leaders of the city's Confederation of Labour, and the Authority of the Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Park exchanged and talked with some workers and business owners, thereby better understanding their thoughts, aspirations and life of trade union members and employees before the new lunar year.

In his remarks at the event, Chairman of the municipal Confederation of Labour Nguyen Duy Minh highlighted the significance of the 'Tet is not far from home' programme in working as a emotional bridge between workers and relatives in their hometown to help those who cannot return to their hometown to celebrate Tet still feel the closeness and the warmth of their beloved ones.

He added that the programme was an opportunity for leaders at all levels to acknowledge and thank great contributions of migrant labor force to the city's socio-economic development.
