Standing Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee cum Chairman of the municipal People's Council Luong Nguyen Minh Triet on Tuesday chaired a regular meeting with other city key leaders to discuss many issues of deep concern to the general public, including ways to ensure timely and sufficient support for local dwellers to welcome in the forthcoming traditional Lunar New Year 2022 (Tet) festival.

The working session featured the release of the detailed list of projects to be developed in 2022, the adjustments and supplements to sources of capital to be allocated for works and projects under the medium-term public investment plan for the 2021 – 2025 period and reports on the disbursement of public investment capital in 2021 and the capital disbursement extension plans in 2022.

Delivering his constructive instructions at the event, Chairman Triet asked the municipal People's Committee to pay more attention to the organisation of Tet celebrations in line with the strict practice of safety measures against COVID-19.

In detail, focus shall be placed on restricting activities with large gatherings and completing floral and lighting decorations along some downtown streets and at public areas, formulating a plan to ensure social security and traffic safety, preventing fire and explosion and ensuring the sufficient supply of goods.

Also, acts of commercial fraud, production and trading of counterfeit and poor quality products must be strictly handled.

Hot spots of environmental pollution must be resolved so as to create a clean, beautiful and airy environment in service for Tet celebrations.

In particular, Chairman Triet urged thee municipal administration to effectively and promptly implement plans to meet the public demands for both material and spiritual life at Tet.

It is expected that about VND72.5 billion VND from the municipal budget will be spent on giving active support and assistances local residents with their meritorious services to the national revolution, poor households and other eligible subjects at Tet.

It was also proposed that the municipal People's Committee evaluate the compensation and clearance work across the city over the past time so as to remove related problems in tandem with accelerating the disbursement of public investment capital in the time to come.

Addressing the meeting, Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Le Trung Chinh said that the local government is urgently and drastically directing functional local bodies to ensure Tet financial support and grants for locals, especially the disadvantaged as well as speeding up the upgrading of streets, ensuring environmental sanitation, social security, and COVID-19 containment missions.
