More than VND 41 billion for supporting pandemic-affected people
According to a report released by the Da Nang Labour Federation at its 15th Conference for the Federation's Executive Committee on Friday morning, in 2021 alone, despite the impact of COVID-19, trade unions at all levels made great efforts to overcome pandemic-triggered difficulties, set up 43 new trade unions at grassroots level, enroll nearly 5,300 new members, and introduce 261 outstanding members to the Party.
During last year, the municipal Labour Federation signed welfare programmes with 23 units in an effort to help more than 14,500 members and award thousands of Tet gifts to needy people, with a total cost of nearly VND5 billion.
Also, the focus was on helping 15 poor families build new houses or 39 others repair their downgraded ones, as well as facilitating 429 trade union members to access preferential loans, totaling nearly VND12.8 billion, to develop family economy.
Notably, the Trade Unions at all levels spent a total of more than VND41 billion on supporting pandemic prevention and control work, and helping their members facing financial hardship due to COVID-19.
Importance was attached to effectively launching emulation movements among workers, officials and laborers citywide, organising a number of training courses on labour policies and laws for the trade union staff, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of trade union members.
Also at the event, authorized by the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour, municipal Labour Confederation Chairman Nguyen Duy Minh awarded Certificates of Creative Labour to 3 outstanding individuals who won the title of Creative Labour in the patriotic emulation movement in 2021.
Five units received emulation flags in recognition of their active involvement in trade union activities in 2021. Certificates of Merit were given out to 3 units for well fulfilling their tasks in 2021.
