Over VND30 billion raised for Fund for the Poor
In 2021 alone, the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee and its chapters at all levels across the city together raised more than VND30.154 billion from generous philanthropists for the city’s Fund for the Poor, exceeding 20.6% of the plan.
Of the donated money, more than VND 30.7 billion went to help 68 poor families build new houses or 265 others repair their downgraded ‘great unity’ ones, support the livelihoods to 182 needy people, provide free medical examinations and treatment for 123 people, and give 2,239 scholarships to poor studious pupils.
Also, over VND 19.3 billion was spent on giving Tet gifts to needy people citywide.
As of December 31, 2021, the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee and its chapters at grassroots level received more than VND 68.8 billion in cash, along with in-kind support, from generous individuals and organisations inside and outside the city to support the city’s battle against COVID-19.
From August 6 to September 15, 2021, many meaningful programmes were carried out in the city to support those in need, including ‘Sharing love to overcome the pandemic’ and ‘Discounts on housing rental fees’.
Moreover, residential areas-based Fatherland Front chapters called on 150,641 gifts, free meals and vegetables, with an estimated value of more than VND21 billion, to support people during the days of implementing social distancing, as well as mobilized 9,923 landlords to offer rental discounts or exemptions to tenants, with a total cost of nearly VND29 billion.
