State President pays pre-Tet visit to Da Nang
Da Nang on Sunday held a ceremony to receive Tet gifts from leaders of the Party and State of Viet Nam, and the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee on the occasion of the forthcoming Tet Festival 2022.

Present at the event were State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Chairman of the President's Office Le Khanh Hai, and President of the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour Nguyen Dinh Khang.
As for Da Nang, the event saw the attendance of Secretary of the municipal Party Committee cum Head of the National Assembly Deputies' delegation Nguyen Van Quang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee cum Chairman of the People's Council Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee cum Chairman of the People's Committee Le Trung Chinh, and Chairman of the municipal Fatherland Front Committee Ngo Xuan Thang.
In his remarks at the gift-giving ceremony, President Phuc emphasized that in the years of 2020 and 2021, the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic severely affected all aspects of life nationwide, the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and the Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang made an attempt to resiliently overcome difficulties, implement a handful of effective pandemic prevention and control solutions in a effective and synchronous manner, drive the local economy, and improve the quality of local resident's lives.
The national government leader highlighted huge efforts the Party, government and people of Da Nang have made over the past year in maintaining the economy's good growth rate, and ensuring political security, social order, and social welfare.

The President informed that Tet was a cultural tradition deeply rooted in each Vietnamese family and person, therefore, the Politburo, the Party Central Committee, and central agencies have already mobilized all resources with the aim to bring a peaceful, prosperous and happy Tet to all Vietnamese people, especially social policy families, heroic Vietnamese mothers, People's Armed Force heroes, and those who gave great service in the national revolution.
President Phuc also took the opportunity to ask the authorities at all levels to do their utmost to support disadvantaged people to celebrate Tet, especially those living in mountainous areas and very difficult circumstances, no-income workers, social policy families, single elderly people, and victims of Agent Orange.
He expressed his belief that the government and people of Da Nang would continue with their efforts to build Da Nang into a stronger and better city in 2022.
In his report at the event, Chairman of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee Ngo Xuan Thang said, with the spirit of "The whole country joins efforts to help the poor, ensuring no one is left behind", leaders of Party, government and mass organizations citywide took many effective measures to help the poor escape poverty sustainably and reduce the rate of poor households in the city.

He added, in 2021, COVID-19 negatively affected the material, spiritual and psychological life of the local, especially the poor and vulnerable groups in society.
In an effort to join efforts with the city leaders to help the needy, the municipal Fatherland Front Committee and its chapters at all levels across the city already implemented many meaningful programmes to help the needy celebrate a warm and happy Tet, including the organisation of the 'Spring of love - Join hands to bring a warm Tet for the poor' programme.
Moreover, the municipal Fatherland Front Committee and its chapters at all levels citywide presented 39,781 Tet gifts with a total amount of VND19.3 billion to those in need.
Of the figure, 15,522 Tet gifts, totaling VND8 billion, were given out to families living near or below the city's poverty threshold, poor Co Tu and Chinese households in Hoa Vang District, and disadvantaged members of the city's Association of Agent Orange Victims, the Association of the Blind, the Association of the Disabled, the Association of Patriotic Prisoners, the Association of Former Youth Volunteers, and the Association for Supporting Orphans and the Disabled.
The municipal Confederation of Labour supported 148,064 Tet gifts, worth more than VND45 billion in total, organized Tet fairs for workers in industrial parks, and gave free coach tickets to more than 3,000 union members and workers to help them return home to celebrate Tet.
The Da Nang Red Cross Society presented 14,500 Tet gifts, totalling about VND5 billion, to those in need.
