Da Nang strengthens cooperative ties with Japanese localities

On Thursday morning, new Consul-General of Japan in Da Nang Yakabe Yoshinori paid courtesy visits to some of the city’s leaders.

In his remarks at the reception for Mr Yakabe Yoshinori, municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang congratulated the Japanese diplomat on his new position. He also highly spoke of the Japanese government in developing the Japanese Consular Office in Da Nang into the Japanese Consulate General.

Secretary Quang emphasised that Da Nang always attached great importance to strengthening cooperation relations with Japanese partners and localities in all aspects.

He affirmed that Da Nang was always willing to roll out the red carpet for Japanese businesses and partners to seek investment and cooperation opportunities in the city.

The city Party Chief took the opportunity to ask for the support from the new consul-general of Japan to promote the cooperative relationships between Da Nang and Japanese localities in the time to come, thereby contributing to further tightening the relationships between Viet Nam and Japan.

When meeting with the Japanese guest, municipal People’s Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh pledged that the city authorities were committed to actively supporting Mr. Yakabe Yoshinori to well fulfill his assigned tasks during his tenure in the city.

Chairman Chinh hoped that Consul General Yakabe Yoshinori would continue giving a helping hand to the city to connect with Japanese partners and businesses that have strengths in climate change response, environmental pollution treatment, educational development, and smart city building, so as to boost cooperation and investment activities in the future.

Warmly receiving the Consul-General of Japan at the headquarters of the Da Nang People's Council, Standing Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Council Le Minh Trung expressed his wish that the Japanese visitor would act as a bridge to lift the bilateral ties with Japanese localities to a new height in the time to come.

Standing Vice Chairman Trung asked for a helping hand from Mr. Yakabe Yoshinori to organise some important events in the city in 2023 to celebrate 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Japan.

Speaking at the meeting with the Japanese diplomat, Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) Tran Viet Dung expressed his delight at fruitful results from cooperative programmes and people-to-people exchange activities between Da Nang and Japanese localities, thereby contributing to tightening the friendship between the two countries.

Mr. Dung wished Consul General Yakabe Yoshinori to continue promoting cultural and people-to-people exchange activities in the city in the context of safe, flexible adaptation and effective control of COVID-19.

Speaking at his meetings with Da Nang’s leaders, Japanese Consul General in Da Nang Yakabe Yoshinori shared about the importance of Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, in Japan’s diplomatic strategy, emphasising that Da Nang has an increasingly vital strategic position, located in the economic corridor connecting with Japan.

He promised that in his new position, he will exert every effort to boost bilateral exchange and cooperation in investment and trade between Japan and Da Nang, and the central localities as a whole, contributing to deepening bilateral ties between the two countries.
