Da Nang enhances trade and cooperation with US investors

Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang on Friday hosted a reception for the new US Ambassador to Viet Nam Marc E. Knapper and the US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Marie C. Damour.

During his reception, Secretary Quang highly praised the US diplomats for their great efforts in promoting the bilateral cooperation ties between the USA and Viet Nam in general, and between Da Nang and US localities in particular.

The city Party Chief Quang briefed his guests on the city’s development orientations with a focus on promoting the development of services and tourism, information technology and high technology.

He also affirmed that Da Nang boasted an appropriate investment environment for foreign investors, including those from the United States.

Mr. Quang expressed his desire that the US diplomats would do their utmost to appeal for more investors from their country to visit and learn about the city’s investment climate.

US Ambassador to Viet Nam Marc E. Knapper, for his part, expressed his impression on Da Nang’s rapid growth over recent years. He remarked that US businesses showed their keen interest in investing into Viet Nam, including Da Nang.

Mr. Marc E. Knapper was committed to connecting and promoting exchange and cooperation activities between US and Da Nang businesses. He also hoped that the city would create favourable conditions for US businesses to operate effectively in the city in the time to come.

On the same day, the US delegation met with Standing Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Ho Ky Minh, who outlined the city’s tourism recovery.

Mr. Minh added that the city was on track to complete the construction of the Software Park No. 2 and information technology infrastructure in order to be ready to welcome foreign investors, including those from the USA, to seek cooperation and investment opportunities in the locality.

The host informed the US guests about the Da Nang Investment Forum 2022 which is slated for late June, and the construction progress of the Lien Chieu Port and the Da Nang International Airport expansion project.

Mr. Marc E. Knapper highly appreciated the favourable geographical conditions of Da Nang, emphasising that this was an extremely ideal condition to promote exchange, cooperation and investment activities between the two sides.

The US diplomat undertook that many US enterprises in the fields of information technology, high technology and finance were very interested in learning about investment environment in Viet Nam, including Da Nang.

Mr. Marc E. Knapper hoped that in the coming time, the governments of Viet Nam and Da Nang would issue more support policies for US businesses, thereby contributing to strengthening cooperation relations between the USA and Viet Nam in the near future.
